Preparations are well underway for a rugby tournament in Soweto that will feature some prominent clubs from various Gauteng townships.

The fixture for this grassroots township rugby tournament will see eight teams fighting it out for glory in a three day battle at Braamfischerville. from April 28-30.

According to Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile the tournament aims to celebrate the achievements of township rugby as well as to boost interest in the sport among supporters and potential players.

“We are building a new spirit, a new vibe and thereby increasing options for the fans and supporters of sport in general.
