Besides the huge potential to successfully market Gauteng internationally as the Home of Champions; the province's A1GP World Cup of Motorsport is expected to go a long way in helping halve unemployment and poverty by 2014. 
 
The A1GP was launched yesterday at a special function in Johannesburg's Melrose Arch. 
 
The occasion was attended by the who's who of the motorsport and journalism industries - ranging from top drivers, lifestyle writers and Ferrari enthusiasts.

Attacks on foreign nationals living in South Africa do not have a place in our country and should be condemned in the strongest possible terms. These attacks on our brothers and sisters are against everything we have been doing to build a humane and caring society. 
 
The actions of these individuals do not reflect the values of our people who for decades have lived together with their fellow African brothers and sisters - whom they accept, without question, truly as their own. 
 
Many of the foreign nationals have in fact helped to build our wealth.
