THE GPG RECONFIGURATION

The Gauteng Premier announced the reconfiguration of the Gauteng Provincial Government on 8 May 2009.

The following departments were identified to be re-organized:

• Department of Public Transport, Roads and Works (DPTRW) to split into two departments namely, Department of Roads & Transport and Department of Infrastructure Development.
• Department of Local Government and Department of Housing to merge into Dept of Local Government and Housing.
• Department of Health and Department of Social Development to merge into Department of Health and Social Development.
• Planning Commission to be established in the Office of Premier.
• Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment to be re-organized to Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
• Gauteng Shared Service Center merger with Treasury into Department of Finance.
